ENVIRONMENT

As a company, we understand our responsibility to do as much as possible to reduce our carbon footprint, and we're passionate about protecting the world around us – our vans might be blue, but our mission is green.

Here are just a few of the ways in which we're doing our best to minimise our impact on the environment, and help make the world a better place to live for everyone.

Carbon offsetting
We understand that transportation inevitably leads to carbon emissions, and so we are working to offset our carbon emissions, planting one tree for every domestic removal and two trees for every international relocation completed.

Renewable energy
The lighting, electrics and temperature in our offices are all powered by an array of solar panels installed on our warehouse roof. The electricity generated from these panels also goes to powering our packing warehouse and several staff electric vehicles. On bright days we make more than we need, so we store this energy in a battery storage system to use for later. Plus, if there's any power left over, we feed it back into the national grid without charge. Our gas is purchased from a supplier that will fully carbon offset our supply through Renewable World.

Reducing vehicle emissions
All of our commercial vehicles are Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) compliant, and have a minimum of Euro 6 emissions, whilst all of our drivers are trained in no-idling regulations and given eco-driver training.

Sourcing materials
All of our crates are manufactured in-house, using timber from sustainable forestry sources. The timber is ISPM 15 compliant, which helps to protect the natural environment. Some of our customers who share our views have upcycled their packing crates in many interesting ways, from shelving and storage to film set props. Keep your photos and ideas coming – we'd love to share them. We have replaced the use of polystyrene chips as loose fill with a product made from GM Free starch which is 100% compostable (EN13432), reusable and recyclable. It protects in the same way, but that's where the similarities end. We actively source cartons with as high recycled board content as possible.

Recycling
All of our cardboard waste is compacted into bales on site, which are then sent directly to a recycling plant. Timber crates, where possible, are reused as often as possible, or stripped down so that their individual components can still be used.

Improving efficiency
We operate a groupage road transport network, grouping geographically close collections into as few routes as possible, to reduce mileage and unnecessary emmissions.

We are always looking for new ways in which we can reduce our environmental impact, so check back on this page to see how we're making a difference today.
